About Peter van de Bree

My name is Peter van de Bree and I’m currently working as a Lead Architect Infrastructure & Cloud. I am a Infrastructure & Cloud vConsultant/vArchitect with more than 20 years of experience in IT. I have extensive knowledge in the field of designing, building and setup Governance for complex enterprise IT infrastructures. I have worked in the IT industry since 1996 and have a broad knowledge of both technical and organisational aspects of IT. I like to work with complex tasks and projects and apply my broad knowledge of methods, practical knowledge and procedures. I am used to work very structurally and methodically. I specialise in Architecture, Infrastructure, Virtualization and Cloud. I am employable as an Architect and Consultant. I can communicate and act on different layers within an organisation. Can very well translate the core business into IT. Be enterprising and controlling and take business pragmatically. A true Rotterdam mentality by raising the sleeves and not applying words but actions, I work accordingly ‘actions speak louder than words’. A well-known statement for Rotterdam residents. I am a true ‘Rotterdammer’ born and raised. (Picture is of my hometown) I can easily translate the requirements and wishes of the client into concrete proposals or solutions. As an architect, I work structured and my way of working is result-oriented. With my strong communication skills, I work very well with my colleagues in a group and can act as a coach. ✓ I create insight and overview ✓ I am a winner and go for 1st place, 2nd place I see as the best loser ✓ I design and build (cloud / server) infrastructures ✓ I want to save costs by using Cloud Techniques and using them optimally ✓ I spot opportunities ✓ I have a keen eye for risks and come proactive with advice to mitigate it ✓ I migrate infrastructure from A to B in the cloud without business impact ✓ I analyze and control security and governance impact of a cloud implementation and transition ✓ I would like to share my knowledge and experience in various communities and coach colleagues and blog about it I have a fond interest in new technologies within DevOps, cloud management and cloud adoption. Strong focus on, but certainly not limited to, VMware technologies. I have specialised myself in the areas of enterprise (cloud) (virtual) infrastructures, compute, storage and Cloud solutions. Next to my daily work, I regularly attend big events like VMworld, VMUGs and other industry events and Blog about it. Also I write articles for several websites like Dutch IT Channel, Computable, ICT Magazine and Executive People. In my spare time, I like to be with my wife and kids, doing fun stuff together, we go camping a lot and enjoying nature. Next to that, I am a big fan of Feyenoord, the biggest club in the Netherlands. I’m attending as many games as I can, else I will watch the game on TV because I never want to miss a game of Feyenoord. Also I’m a big fan of Cycling especially the Tour de France. Erik Janssens the big winner at Cloud Architect of the Year 2018!

More than 60 people attended the annual Cloud Architect of the Year award on 15th February. It was held in Dauphine in Amsterdam, the ‘theater’ of the Cloud Architect Alliance. At 7:00 pm the show was started, which was presented excellently by the host, Sophie van Hoytema!

At the start of the award show, the 5 nominees were known and they were all present on this evening. Some also had the necessary ‘supporters’.
