Storing VMware VM backups in Azure
When implementing a 3-2-1 backup strategy, one backup needs to be stored offsite. In a hybrid cloud environment, offsite will likely be the datacenter of your cloud provider. If you run VMware VMs in an on-premises datacenter and use Azure public cloud services, how can you copy a backup of a VM to Azure? Well, there are multiple solutions but every solution has it pros and cons. In this article we will shortly explain 2 solutions and compare them: Veeam Backup & Recovery 9.5 and Microsoft Backup Server (latest update). Continue reading
Veeam is touring through the Netherlands and one of these stops was Spijkenisse. I blocked this date in my calendar because as a Blogger and Cloud Evangelist, I wanted to attend. Although I visited VeeamON in New Orleans, I was excited for an update about their upcoming releases and the other topics sounded also very interesting.
VeeamON Tour began with a warm welcome from Lodewijk van Klaveren, Manager Channels Benelux and a strategic overview where Veeam was and where Veeam will be heading in the future. This was held very short to give the audience enough time to hear about all the new technical stuff Veeam will offer in the upcoming release.
Veeam and NetApp Take Relationship to New Level
NetApp customers can now purchase complete NetApp and Veeam solutions directly from NetApp and its resellers, enabling them to benefit from Veeam’s Availability solutions. Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup & Replication will be available with NetApp E-series, AltaVault, ONTAP, All-Flash FAS, and hybrid cloud solution offerings. Veeam continues to deliver innovation via direct integration with ONTAP environments to provide enterprise class scalability, performance, agility and ease of management.
Veeam Software, announced that NetApp will be adding Veeam Availability Solutions to the NetApp global price list. The combination of Veeam’s Availability solutions with NetApp E-series, AltaVault, ONTAP, All-Flash FAS, and hybrid cloud solution offerings, help organizations simplify IT operational management, lower costs, and attain recovery point and recovery time objectives (RTPO) of seconds – not hours and days, per legacy solutions – for all applications and data.
Maximize Uptime and Ensure Faster and Comprehensive Workload Recovery
Users are able to leverage NetApp Snapshots in tandem with Veeam’s availability and recovery capabilities to minimize data loss and downtime while implementing a more cohesive data backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategy.
Customers receive the following benefits from purchasing Veeam solutions from NetApp:
- One stop shop: purchase a complete NetApp and Veeam solution via a single NetApp purchase order;
- Validated solution: the assurance that the Veeam/NetApp solution has been validated, and will deliver optimal business benefits.
How does it works?
Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 gathers mailbox data from an Exchange organization using Exchange Web Services and PowerShell, and stores it in the repository; data is transferred using SSL. To carry out these operations automatically, an administrator creates and schedules a backup job.
What’s New in v1.5?
Just wanted to take the time and let you know that Veeam is hosting a Virtual Availability Event later this year with same setup as last year when 2400 users attended the show. The setup means you can participate in the event from your home or office chair (no travel included) since it is in fact a virtual event 🙂
It will take place 11 AM CET – 5 PM CET 5 December 2017 and the agenda is pretty packed and divided into multiple tracks so that decision makers, architects and technicians can get the most out of the event. The following tracks are available:
